Stephen John Stockdale-Hall
Stephen John Stockdale Hall was a former lay teacher who taught Music at Blackfriars Prior School in the Adelaide suburb of Prospect. After leaving Blackfriars, Mr. Stockdale-Hall still maintained an involvement with the School, often arranging extra-curricular camping trips through which he came and would sexually abuse his victims (mainly when they were ill), including one under his guardianship. On 21 January 2004, Mr Stockdale-Hall was initially charged with 19 offences against seven victims. This grew to 25 offences against nine victims before committal proceedings commenced in April 2004.
Mr Stockdale-Hall pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to 10 offences against nine victims in satisfaction of all the charges before the court. In 2006, he was sentenced to ten years in jail with a non-parole period of eight years. In 2015, Mr Stockdale-Hall was further sentenced to an extra eight months jail due to Stockdale-Hall’s 10th victim not filing charges until 2013. As he had already served an extra one and a half years in jail due to problems finding suitable accommodation for him, he was given in the end a suspended sentence on condition of a paying a two-year bond of $100.
